Rajasthan - Jaipur

Jaipur is usually one of the first destinations in Rajasthan. We know people who think of Jaipur as of best place in Rajasthan, unfortunately we don't think so.
Indisputably there are places worth the trip - one of them Jantar Manta - the 'instrument and formula' to astrology. The fantastic thing in Jaipur is the fact than many of the instruments were created by the maharajah himself at the end of the 18th century. We followed our Indian guide and learned how to read time (Jaipur time is 22 minutes ahead of the rest of Rajasthan), star constellations and more.
You can stroll under Hawa Mahal or visit Jaipur Palace (Amber palace is better). Also you shouldn't miss the fort to see how large Jaipur actually is (2 million people to our surprise).

  1. Loved Jaipur, the Red city. Also recalled the fantastic gigantic forts some 20km outside of the city with walls atop the hills.
Btw, some really nice photos you took...
