Oh yes. There is one word that describes Dusky track the best – muddy. Then sandflies, not only were there millions of them but they were much more aggrrrrrressive than anywhere else we’ve been so far. And. Beautiful. Spectacular. Amazing. And definitely challenging (a little bit).
Few observatitions:
- Sandflies ignore all types of repellent you use. You can bath yourself in a repellent and the first sandfly flying around will try to dine on you.
- It is impossible to keep your shoes dry for longer than five minutes (literally).
- Trying to avoid the mud is hopeless.
- It is surprisingly easy to pull your muscle when trying to get yourself out of one of the hundreds of mud pools.
- It is NOT possible to estimate how deep the mud pools are.
- If there is one branch on a tree that might break you can be sure it is the one you will try to use to rescue yourself from the mud.
- It is possible to do this track even if you are 50 plus. Big greetings to Baz, Mike, Hugh and Greg!!! You guys rock!!!
- You can be lucky with the weather no matter what everybody else tells you J
